Granny passed away earlier today. I got to go visit her around a week ago and I'm glad I did. She passed peacefully while watching a video of my oldest niece and the soothing music in the background. She fell into a quiet sleep, no pain. I'm most happy for that. But it still doesn't make me any less sad.

Hey Shawn, I need your cell phone number, I kept txt-ing some Amanda chick and she was getting pissed. :) An awesome 2nd half of football for the Longhorns, with Aaron Ross sealing the deal with 3 turnovers and a score in a 28-10 Sooner thumping.

Today I finally got my National Championship t-shirt, InVINCEble t-shirt, and a nice little bonus: a National Championship banner that will go nicely in my theater room. Life is good!!!!
4:49 pm - Still wired...
I could not wind down from the game last night, probably fell asleep by 2 am or so. Lots of tossing and turning. And I'm still all hyped up. Tired as fuck, but still got that hop in my step. Stopped by Academy at lunch just to see if maybe they had some National Championship scraps left, but nothing. Hopefully in the next couple weeks they'll be readily available to take the nation by storm. Or at least my little part of the nation known as Houston, TEXAS.
12:18 am - NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!!!! Holy shit we were jumping and screaming and hugging and going insane. I was shaking the entire last 2 minutes of the game. We had about a dozen people over at my parents' place to watch the game in HDTV and it was nothing short of amazing. At the half I warned every one of a Rose Bowl repeat from last year...good defensive showing in the first half, total offense in the 2nd. I wished I was wrong, but the same ending (and the almost scary parallel with last year's game) is all good. My phone started ringing off the hook right after the touchdown, but I didn't answer anything until the final 0:19 ran off the clock. I couldn't believe it, still can't believe it. Shawn called from Chicago after watching with a UT alumni group, total insanity up there. And then Nikkiz and JJ called from the Rose Bowl itself...sounded fucking amazing.
Nothing left to say except....WE'RE TEXAS!!! (biches)
10:23 am - Tons of pix coming...
I took a bunch of pictures from the Big XII Championship game this weekend. Hopefully I'll get the CD from my dad and can upload them soon. We came early, stayed late, were loud, and most definitely wore burnt orange! Even Leslie wore a Longhorn shirt (her family is full of Sooner fans and actually knows the words to "Boomer Sooner." It's really disgusting. heh) It's so surreal that our next game is for the National Championship. Not to mention the 'horns men's basketball team is ranked 2nd in the nation, and plays #1 Duke next weekend! A great time to be a Longhorn fan!
Got an e-mail from the Houston Texans saying that they had made some tickets available, so now Leslie, my dad, and I are sitting on the 3rd row for the game!!! Only $80/ticket...despite them being in the end zone I'm still fucking stoked!
And certainly not to be forgotten...HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BICHESSSSSS NIKKKIIIZZZZZZZZ (tomorrowz).
7:10 pm - Uncle Jonesy...
Alexandra Michelle Jones was born at 2:10 pm CST today at Houston Northwest Medical Hospital. She and Courtney are doing very well, and I'll have pictures of the fam holding the new addition after my folks post them online. Yes, they even have some of me holding her. The new family of three will be home in a couple days. My brother seems very happy and of course now my mom has a little girl to spoil (doctors initially thought, although they could never completely tell, that the baby would be a boy)...which means she's now off my case to fill that void. heh. We had a baby pool going for when the kid would be born, which i won in almost freakish fashion. I chose May 25, 2:12 pm...2 minutes! I was off on the weight (I guessed 8 lbs, 1 oz....actual was 7 lbs. 3 oz.), though.
It's been a whirlwind couple of days in general, but the last 24 hours have been the best I've had in a very long time. Try not to freak out when you see the Current Mood below. To cap it all off, I think a friend of mine wants to go see Star Wars tonight (their first time, would be my 2nd), so it just keeps getting better. And then I'm in SF for 5 days starting tomorrow night! Got my TX DL in the mail last week, so along with the car rental, everything seems to be in order.
